O Fado é um estilo musical português. Geralmente é cantado em por só uma pessoa (fadista) e acompanhado por uma guitarra clássica (denominada viola) e guitarra portuguesa.
A palavra fado vem do latim fatum, ou seja 'destino'. De origem obscura, terá surgido provalmente na segunda metado do século XIX.
O fadista canta o sofrimento, a saudade de tempos passados, a saudade de um amor perdido, a tragédia, a desgraça, a dor, amor e ciúme, a noite, as sombras e a critica a sociedade.
